Only you see this part. Your customer never does.

What it costs you
$1,368.00
What is left for you
$742.00

You keep about $35 of every $100

The same quote from your side. A line can carry what it costs you beside its price. Here the job costs you $1,368.00 and leaves you $742.00, so you keep about $35 of every $100. Sales tax is not counted as yours. Your customer never sees this part.

If you price by adding a percent on top of your cost, check what that really leaves you of every $100. It is less than the percent you added.

What goes on a quote

  • Your lines

From your rates and your price book, or typed in on the spot. Each has a quantity, a unit and a price, and you tick whether it is taxed.

  • Up to 4 options

They start as Good, Better and Best. Rename them, take one away or add another, and mark the one you recommend. Your customer picks one.

  • Add-ons

Extras your customer can tick before they approve.

  • A deposit

A percent or a fixed amount, due on approval. Its invoice is made for you when your customer approves.

  • As much detail as you choose

"Grouped totals" shows one price for labor, one for materials and so on. "Every line" shows a price beside each line. "Both" lets them open a group to see its lines. You choose on each quote.

  • Photos, if you add them

Up to 12 photos of the job, and only the ones you choose. A picture of the property from above can go on too. It covers the lower 48 states and may be a few years old.

How your customer approves

  1. They open a private linkIt opens in the browser on their phone. No app, no account, no password.
  2. They chooseOne of your options, and any add-ons they want.
  3. They approve the way you choseA signature drawn with a finger (an e-signature), a typed name with a checkbox, or a plain button.

They can also decline, and say why. You are emailed when a quote is approved or declined.

What is kept when they approve

The name they gave, the date and time, the signature when there is one, and the network address it came from are kept with the quote.

That is a record of what happened. Whether it is enough for your purposes is for you to decide.

An approved quote can no longer be edited. Extra or changed work after that goes on a change order, which your customer approves by link before it is done.

Sending and tracking

  • Email the link from TailGateBid, or copy it and send it yourself.
  • A timeline on the quote shows when it was created, sent, first viewed, and approved or declined.
  • A quote can be copied for the next job, given a date it is good until, and printed or saved by your customer.
  • When your customer approves, the job is created, ready to schedule, and the deposit comes off the final invoice.
  • Each customer has a language. The quote, its page and its email go out in English or in Spanish, whichever you set for them.

Or start from photos

An empty quote also offers Bid Partner. Take photos of the job, say what the customer wants, and its draft fills in that same quote.
