Free estimate maker: fill it in, print it or save a PDF
Type your business name, your customer's name and a few lines. This page adds up the tax, the total and the deposit, and makes a clean estimate or quote to print or to save as a PDF. There is no sign-up, and nothing you type leaves your device.
Make your estimate
Nothing you type here is sent anywhere. The sums are done on your device.
The lines
These lines are an example with made-up prices, not a going rate. Type over them, or clear them.
Leave it empty and no tax is added. Tax is worked out on the taxed lines only.
Leave it empty for no deposit.
Before you ask for a deposit on work at a home, check what your state or province allows. Read two regulators' own words
The paper gives the date. Leave it empty and the paper says nothing about it.
Printed as you type it.
Your paper
Opens your browser's print window. Only the paper prints. To keep a PDF, choose that there. Or copy it as plain text, to paste into an email or a message.
The paper says Example until you have typed your business name and changed the lines.

Your draft is kept in this browser, on this device only. Start over wipes it and puts the example back.
Nothing you type leaves your device
There is no account here and no form to send. What you type is added up in your own browser, and is not sent to TailGateBid or to anyone else.
Your draft is kept in this browser, on this device, so a reload does not lose it. It is not kept anywhere else. "Start over" wipes it, and on a shared computer that is worth pressing when you are done.
"Print or save as PDF" opens your browser's own print window. Only the paper prints. To keep a PDF, choose that in the window in place of a printer.
An estimate template that arrives filled in
The paper opens with an example: three lines for one job, each with how many, what it is counted in and a price for each. It is there to show where everything goes.
The prices are made up. They are not a going rate: TailGateBid has no price data. Type over the lines, or clear them in one tap.
The paper keeps an Example stamp until you have typed your business name and changed the lines, so the example is not printed as if it were your quote.
What goes on the paper
Estimate or quote
You pick the word at the top. Both are in use, and they do not say quite the same thing: what each word tells your customer.
Lines that grow with the job
Each line is so many of something at a price for each: hours, acres, cubic yards, square feet, feet, inches, loads, or a plain count. If yours is not on the list, type it.
Tax on the taxed lines only
Tick the lines that are taxed and type your own rate. The rate in the example is the example's. This page cannot tell you your rate, or which of your lines are taxed: ask your state's revenue department.
A deposit, if you ask for one
A percent of the total, tax included, or a dollar amount. Before you ask for one on work at a home, check what your state or province allows. Two regulators' own words, and the sum.
How long the price holds
Type a number of days and the paper gives the date, with the month as a word. We give no usual number, because we have no source for one. How to write an estimate says how to pick yours.
A line to sign
A line for your customer's signature and the date, for a pen. Switch it off if you do not want one.
In English or in Spanish
Pick the language of the paper, whichever language you are reading this page in. Its headings and its totals print in that language. What you type prints exactly as you typed it, so type it in the language your customer reads.
That is how TailGateBid works too: you work in one language, and each customer gets theirs.
The same sums as a TailGateBid quote
A line is its quantity times its price, rounded to the cent. Sales tax is your rate times the taxed lines. A percent deposit is taken on the total with the tax in it.
These are the sums a TailGateBid quote does, run by the same code, so the cents agree. Not sure of the price yet? Work out what the job costs you first.
What a paper cannot do
- It cannot send itself. You print it, or attach the PDF to your own email.
- It cannot tell you when your customer has opened it, or that they said yes.
- Nobody approves it on a phone. The line to sign is for a pen.
- It does not turn into a job on a schedule, or into an invoice. You type the invoice again.
- It does not remember your prices or your customers. This page holds one draft, on one device.
- It is not legal advice, and it checks no state's deposit limit or tax rule.
What TailGateBid does with the same quote
In TailGateBid the quote is emailed to your customer as a link. They open it on their own phone, choose an option and approve it, with a signature if you ask for one. A timeline shows when they first looked, and you are emailed when they approve or decline.
The approved quote becomes the job, ready to schedule. When the job is done, one tap makes its invoice from the lines of the quote, with the deposit your customer paid taken off.
Your prices are typed once. Your rates and your price book are offered as lines on every quote you build.
Every plan starts with 30 days free, with no card needed.
Where each number comes from
- A sales tax rate above 25% is turned away as a likely typing slip. That limit is ours, not any state's.
In TailGateBid the same quote goes out as a link, and your customer approves it on their own phone.
